What happens at ILGA conferences?

Basically three types of activities:

ILGA conferences are a unique opportunity for activists to share their experiences with their peers from all over the world. ILGA conferences are not only social gatherings, but one of the few occasions for activists like you and I who campaign in their respective countries to meet and share their experiences. They are also an occasion to learn more about campaigning, develop new skills during workshops and broaden our local agenda…

LGBT groups attending the conference gather to discuss what ILGA as their “umbrella” organisation should work on during the years following the conference. This happens through caucuses on specific subjects: religion, health, campaigns...

Having so many members to agree on a common agenda requires respect, a bit of planning … and a few rules. Those are listed in ILGA’s Constitution and its Standing Orders. Answers can be found there as to when and how amendments to the Constitution can be made, how and when specific themes can be proposed to be discussed in the conference, and who is entitled to make those propositions.

Next > ILGA conferences are also the place where LGBT activists elect their regional and world representatives
